A large part of our sweet onion program at Herndon Farms is based around the 7 months we import onions from the country of Peru. The Peru Onion is very similar to a Vidalia in taste and appearance and can be used as a great substitute when Vidalias are not available. We are very grateful for our grower partners in Peru that allow us to keep a sweet onion available for our customers 52 weeks out of year.
